Stonewall and District Health Foundation supports patient care in Stonewall with the purchase of an ultrasound machine!

Stonewall and District Health Foundation’s recent donation of $65,110.00 will be used to purchase a portable ultrasound machine for the hospital. This new ultrasound will allow physicians to perform non-evasive diagnostics while giving a clear picture of soft tissues that do not show up well on x-rays. Portable, real-time imaging makes it easy for staff to diagnose and treat patients quickly, leading to better health care.

Stonewall and District Health Foundation board member, Kevin Beresford says he’s thankful to the Interlake Eastern Health Foundation for their assistance with facilitating the purchase.

“It is the Stonewall and District Health Foundation’s pleasure to provide the funds for the purchase of state of the art ultrasound equipment for the Stonewall and District Health Centre emergency department. This equipment will be used to assist physicians to more accurately diagnose and treat patients, enabling optimal patient care close to home. Our thanks to the Interlake Eastern Health Foundation for their assistance in facilitating this purchase.”

Stonewall physician Dr. Pinniger is happy to obtain such a valuable tool for the health team in Stonewall.

“On behalf of the physicians of the Stonewall Hospital, I would like to thank the Stonewall and District Health Foundation and the Interlake -Eastern Health Foundation for their generous support in the purchase of the ultrasound. Point of Care Ultrasound is becoming a standard in the provision of quality medical care in many settings, including the emergency department. The new ultrasound will be put to good use as it assists us in medical problem solving and aids us in performing safer medical procedures. Its use will only increase over time.”

Interlake Eastern Health Foundation executive director Pamela McCallum hopes that the Stonewall and District Health Foundation’s kindness will plant further seeds of giving within the community.

“We thank the community of Stonewall and it is our hope that this donation will serve to open doors to other thoughtful donors who are interested in sustainable health care in their community.”
