Interlake Eastern Health Foundation Celebrates Record Year of Community Impact at AGM
Selkirk, MB – October 1, 2025. Interlake Eastern Health Foundation (IEHF) marked a record-breaking year of community investment at its Annual General Meeting, highlighting a 52% increase in funding to local health care facilities and programs.
In the 2024/25 fiscal year, more than $524,000 was directed to support health care across the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA) region, the Foundation’s largest annual investment to date. Funding supported essential needs not covered elsewhere, including specialized medical equipment, facility upgrades, staff training and education, and programs like Camp Stepping Stones, a grief camp for children.
“These investments are only possible because of our donors,” said Terri Otto, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Every dollar helps ensure care is available close to home when it’s needed most.”
Building on its strategic plan, Supporting Care and Community – The Path Forward, the Foundation continued to grow its reach, strengthen partnerships, and introduce new ways for Manitobans to support health care close to home.
2024/25 Highlights:
- Record community investment: Over $524,000 supporting equipment, training, facility improvements, and programs — up 52% from the previous year.
- Endowment Fund granting: IEHF granted from its Endowment Funds for the first time, establishing a foundation for long-term, sustainable health care support.
- New fundraising initiatives: IEHF joined the KinKar Raffle and One Great Lottery and launched a 50/50 Payday Payout raffle for Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA) staff.
- $5 Club success: The staff-led initiative raised $25,000, supporting 13 community programs across the region, including food banks, school breakfast programs, and youth mentorship.
The Foundation’s audited financial statements show total fund balances approaching $2 million, demonstrating continued growth and careful stewardship of donor funds.
During the AGM, Otto welcomed new board members and recognized two long-serving board members for their outstanding contributions:
- Ted Lewis, who has been involved since the Foundation’s inception and recently stepped in as Treasurer to support the board during a transition year. “Ted’s willingness to do whatever is needed and his thoughtful leadership have been invaluable,” said Otto.
- Tracey Epp, who has been with the Foundation since the beginning and chaired the Nominations and Governance Committee. “Tracey’s insight, steady hand, and commitment to good governance helped shape this board into what it is today.”
Both Ted and Tracey were thanked for their years of service and dedication to advancing health care across the region.
“The Foundation’s strength lies in the generosity of our communities and the dedication of people like Ted, Tracey, and our many donors and volunteers,” said Otto. “Together, we’re building healthier, stronger communities.”
Looking ahead, the Foundation plans to continue investing in equipment, facility enhancements, and staff development, while collaborating with IERHA and community partners on larger regional health projects.
