Recently, Manitoba Possible and Sunrise Medical teamed up to donate a new power wheelchair for the region’s occupational therapy program. This newly acquired wheelchair will allow therapists the opportunity to do assessments quicker, leading to patients being discharged sooner.
Cherry Nixdorf, occupational therapist from Manitoba Possible’s Wheelchair Program said that their team was happy to facilitate this donation for the region.
“The Manitoba Wheelchair Program is very pleased to facilitate a power wheelchair donation from our contracted vendor Sunrise Medical, to IERHA,” says Nixdorf “We know that our rural clients and prescribers experience unique issues with access to appropriate trial equipment and having a power wheelchair in the region will assist clinicians to complete timely assessments and ensure that the power wheelchair is a safe mobility option for clients. We are very happy to be able to coordinate equipment that will be put to good use.”
Tamika DeCuire from Sunrise Medical stated that they are proud to be able to make this donation possible.
“At Sunrise Medical our mission statement is, Improving People’s Lives® by leading in the design, manufacturing and marketing of innovative, high-quality mobility products and services. We are proud to be able to donate a power wheelchair to Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority to help the community trial Sunrise Medical’s power wheelchair. It is very important that our partners, such as Manitoba Possible, share similar values to Sunrise Medical. This offers our clients a well-rounded team of support, to provide them with quick access to our products and services,” says DeCaire.
Pamela McCallum, executive director of the Interlake Eastern Health Foundation says the region is thrilled with the addition of this power wheelchair for our patients and staff.
“It’s wonderful to see our community working together for the betterment of health in our region. We are very grateful to Manitoba Possible and Sunrise Medical for this wheelchair that will directly benefit staff and patient care in our region,” says McCallum.
